150 year old juniper tree at Kavo Greko

"The tree is found in the west south side of the park, very close to the road leading to Ayia Napa. Coming from Ayia Napa, one can see the tree on the right, in a field towards the sea. It is a Juniperus phoenicea, 150 years old, 5 meters high and its trunk has a perimeter of 2 meters. A stop here can be combined with (any of) the exploration of the Cape Greco park, hikes, nature study, photography, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, bird watching and climbing."

Anthestiria – is the celebration of spring and awakening of the nature, which came to Cyprus from ancient Greece. This festival was inspired by the ancient celebrations which were held in Athens to worship Dionys- the God of wine and prosperity. Athestiria was also the carnival where people were celebrating the spring awakening of human and nature.
